No
competitor in shearing and woolhandling competitions anywhere in the
World can match this person's achievements. David is equally at home in
a shearing final or woolhandling final and regularly makes both.
He has also been selected by the Sports Shear Australia Assoc
Inc National Committee as
Manager/Coach
of the Australian Trans-Tasman Team and is well respected for his
organisational and diplomatic skills, as well as his knowledge on gear
and technique in shearing and woolhandling.
He has been a key player in creating a fair and equal playing field
for competitors in the Test Series in New Zealand and Australia due to
his dedication for the Sport.
As Manager/Coach of the Australian Shearing Team, this team beat New Zealand at
Glenn Innes in 2001
David's career started in the Maniatoto, Central Otago, New Zealand,
working for John Stringer before he had left school. |
Neville Hartley, a very well respected shearer in his time, and
wife Judy, guided young David and helped him with his development
and work ethic throughout New Zealand and Australia.
David has shorn in most States of Australia, and has proven to be
one of the best where ever he has shorn or competed.
Due to his exception skills David was invited to be part of the training
system throughout Queensland for Registered Training Organisation
Agforce.
David's knowledge and skills are in demand throughout
Queensland and he is always well received in the industry. He has helped
with commentating at competitions and also organisation of Quick Shears.
His dedication, hard work and involvement
with competitions in administration as well as competing, has helped
Queensland become one of the dominant States in Australia in the
National Championships, and helped Queensland be the favored host for
the 2005 World Championships.
