Sheep preparation for shearing competitions ???

Preparation of sheep for shearing competitions, and also the type of sheep have gone too far away from the normal

When Mc Rae's Romneys were used at the Golden Shears, Masterton New Zealand, no shearer broke 20 minutes, and most points were lost underneath
There was much work on these sheep and therefore the shearer who won, had to ensure that all wool was removed well enough so the judges didn't penalise too much.
They were a top test to get the best shearer, and there were as many good shearers then as there are now, shearing normal sheep anywhere
The shearers were as fast and clean as they are now on those type of sheep, but those type of sheep haven't been shorn with that small amount taken off for many many years
Now we have small, open, half bellied, full crutched sheep, with little work underneath or in other areas on the sheep, which allows for a different type of shearer to come out as a winner

World Shearing Records have a crutching template that all must adhere to, why don't Shearing Competitions use the same Template
The reason there is little wool left around tits on competition sheep after they are shorn out the back when judged is; they have been half bellied and full crutched beforehand

Some judges that are used to judging at competitions, see a World Shearing Record Attempt that has the normal record template taken off, (no full crutching or half bellies) and the shearers leave some wool around the tits to save cutting them at the record pace and losing the sheep, have some judges believe this is not acceptable

This is normal acceptable practice, that happens in the shearing sheds every day, all around the World

Let's get back to the real thing, bring the shearing shed standards to the competition board under similar circumstances, not far far away as it is now
