The Port Craig viaducts were built of
Australian hardwood in the early 1920's to open up the western
Southland forests to logging Four
viaducts are still used by trampers to provide access across
ravines through the Waitutu Incorporation lands between Port Craig
and the Fiordland National Park south coast area. The viaduct at
Percy Burn (36 m high, 125 m long) is the largest surviving wooden
viaduct in the world
